Collaboration will explore how context established in R&D can remain connected and usable as biopharma programs move into process development and manufacturing
MADISON, WI, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Axio BioPharma, a company building software and laboratory capabilities to improve how biologics are developed and manufactured, and Elucidata, a deep-tech company building AI solutions and data infrastructure for biopharma R&D, today announced a partnership focused on improving data continuity as biopharma programs move from research into process development and manufacturing.
The collaboration brings together Elucidata’s capabilities in biomedical data harmonization, ontology mapping, and AI-ready data infrastructure with Axio Lattice, which connects information across biopharma and manufacturing partner systems without requiring raw data to be centralized or moved.
The companies will initially explore commercial opportunities where scientific data structured and contextualized during R&D can remain comparable and usable as programs move downstream. Areas of collaboration may include bringing process data connected through Axio Lattice to Elucidata’s models, as well as customer-specific applications where connected scientific and process data can support analytics and AI.
Biopharmaceutical development depends on information generated across research teams, laboratories, process development groups, manufacturing sites, and external partners. Yet this information is frequently distributed across incompatible systems, formats, terminology, and organizational boundaries. These differences can make it difficult for scientists, engineers, and quality teams to preserve context, compare information, and use data effectively in analytics and AI workflows.
Elucidata’s Polly platform addresses this challenge in biomedical R&D. It brings together public and proprietary data, including omics, clinical data, assays, imaging, and scientific literature. Polly standardizes and harmonizes the data, maps metadata to biological ontologies, retains provenance, and makes the information accessible for analysis and AI.
Axio Lattice focuses on the handoff between biopharma sponsors and their manufacturing partners. It connects information across the systems they already use without requiring either organization to centralize raw data, replace software systems, or change ownership of the underlying information. Rosetta, Axio’s ontology mapping layer within Lattice, maps differences in terminology, structure, and context so process information remains understandable and comparable across organizations.
Together, these capabilities create an opportunity to preserve the meaning and scientific context established earlier in a program as it advances into process development, technology transfer, and manufacturing.
“Drug development generates an enormous amount of valuable data, but every time a program moves between teams, systems or companies there is an opportunity to lose some of the context around it,” said Justin Byers, Founder and CEO of Axio BioPharma. “Elucidata has done a lot of work solving that problem on the R&D side. We’re focused on what happens as that information moves into process development and manufacturing. There’s a natural fit between the two, and we think there are some really interesting problems we can solve together for customers.”
“At Elucidata, we’ve spent the last decade building Polly to turn complex scientific data into AI-ready evidence that is accessible to AI models and agents,”, said Abhishek Jha, Co-founder and CEO of Elucidata. “Our partnership with Axio brings together complementary capabilities. Axio’s federated network connects information across manufacturing partners, while Polly brings the data harmonization and AI capabilities needed to make that information useful. We see an opportunity to extend what we’ve built in Drug R&D into process development and manufacturing, where this information can support better scientific and operational decisions.”
The partnership reflects a shared view that better AI models alone will not solve biopharma’s data problem. The underlying scientific and process information also has to be structured, connected and usable. By bringing together expertise across R&D and manufacturing, Axio and Elucidata will look for practical ways to preserve more of that information and context as drug programs move from discovery toward manufacturing.
About Axio BioPharma
Axio BioPharma is a Madison, Wisconsin company building software and laboratory capabilities to improve how biologics are developed and manufactured. Axio Lattice helps pharma sponsors and their manufacturing partners work from the same process data across organizational boundaries without moving data or changing ownership. Axio Forge is a high-throughput, non-GMP antibody laboratory producing research-grade monoclonal antibodies on a 3–5 week turnaround.
